I want to clarify for themselves what is the difference between a Yantra and a mandala?

Who knows?

The purpose and geographical origin?
A mandala is mainly used by Buddhists and their current. A typical example is monks a few years(about three) colored poroshkami create the mandala(part of the world, Buddhas, deities), and then sweep it as with my arrival in the illusion of material world(Maya).
A Yantra is mainly used in meditation, staring at them to pojavlenii three-dimensional image... But to draw a clear line between them is hard... And this is just my personal opinion.
