April 9, 2006 on TV channel "Russia" from 18.15 to 20.00 were shown a TV film called "the Great secret of water".* The idea of the film associated with the "discovery" of the so-called fourth, information condition of water which has been her memory. After analyzing the data about the film, its creators, it referred to the facts and the names, Yu Black came to the following results.
"...Draws attention to the identity of the author of the script. Michael Wager – not a scientist, but a journalist and specialist “in esoteric knowledge, and Bondage” (original spelling preserved. That's right – “esoteric” and “Kabbalah” – J. H.). A list of his journalistic works is doubtful that he is capable of creativity in the popular science genre.
But what is actually scientific popularization? In my opinion, is an activity that is associated with the “translation” of knowledge available in a particular area of science to a public language. So “translation” can do himself a scientist, a journalist or any other person interested in science and able to understand the results. The main thing – to achieve the inevitable tradeoff between accuracy specially-scientific knowledge (for professionals generally agreed with the result of the promotion) and its accessibility to a wider audience (to “ordinary people” understood).
But without which promotion is impossible – so it's without the actual scientific knowledge, i.e. knowledge endorsed by the expert scientific community and included in the system of science. As long as the knowledge is not passed this procedure, it cannot be considered scientific. It is an axiom of scientific inquiry. Does the fact the film “Great secret of water” with the knowledge of this type? No, it has not.
Japanese “researcher” Masaru Emoto (born in 1943) the results of their work in the scientific press does not publish (this is a mandatory requirement for a person who considers himself a scientist). Moreover, he has no special natural science education. He graduated from the municipal University in Yokohama, majoring in “International relations” and then he continued his studies and in 1992 received a certificate of a doctor of alternative medicine of the Open international University of alternative medicine in Kolkata (India). The requirements for obtaining a doctoral degree at this University a minimum of one year of training, the publication of five articles and a contribution of US $ 350 (see: http://www.altmeduniversity.net/courses3.htm).[27]
The fact that the results of "studies" are outside the scope of science, did not prevent Emoto to do a successful business. The samples of the products his company I. H. M. Co., Ltd and prices can be found here: http://www.hado.net/products.html
But Emoto is wider than just business. More precisely, here the business gets the moral justification and purpose of financial backup. The challenge for the next 10 years is to increase the number of angels on the Earth who will oppose the demons (http://www.masaru-emoto.net/russian/rusdiary200602.html)".[28]
In conclusion of their study, Yu Yu Black writes: "...on the basis of pseudoscientific speculation Masaru Emoto actively creates new planetary religious movement, a religion Hado. He does not forget himself, actively promoting and selling their own products.
Understand whether it is the script writer of the film Michael Weiger, the Director and producers? In any case, the answer is sad. If you understand and are fulfilling someone's order – means deliberately engaged in falsification. If you do not understand – it means they are Amateurs and it is better to engage some other and not the popular science genre. Fortunately, the true professionals, writing about science in our country is still enough".[29]
Said Yu Yu. Black needs to add another. As it became known, the budget of the film "Great secret of water" amounted to about 13 million rubles ($500,000). The active intervention of scientific journalists and scientists helped stop the beginning, it was a noisy PR-company for promotion of the idea of structured water. It became known that among the sponsors of the film were businessmen engaged in the production and sale of water and other beverages. Some stores already have "structured water" at a price of half to two times more expensive than normal bottled. Alarmed by the fact that shortly before this was implemented, a large shopping Scam, organized on the basis of creating an excessive demand for salt. It was put rumors of its scarcity, the population rushed to buy salt. In some regions, after the disappearance from the shelves, she soon came, but at a price five times more than before. After some time, salt prices have stabilized. Someone got large profits in a short time spent on this Scam a penny. An artificially created panic around the salt can be seen as some sort of test of public consciousness on stability ahead of a possible panic around water.
We can only guess how many billions of rubles would flow into the pockets of the scammers, if people have managed to misinform and instead of plain water we would buy today, "structured", paying for it many times more expensive.<
