I think Erofeev had several other goals, describing "mysterious Russian soul". In the Russian people, in many, there is neistrebima the sense of contradiction, you're so - I'm wrong, maybe the author wanted to Wake up, rebelled, stirred up, they say no, we are not. A third of Russians believe the Sun revolves around the Earth

On the eve of the day of science celebrated in Russia February 8, VTSIOM conducted a poll and compiled a list of most common misconceptions. Data have been disappointing: knowledge of some Russians lag behind science by a few hundred years, and the majority of citizens can compete with the Americans in a "scientific dark."
The results of the survey were that about a third of Russians (32%) believe that the Sun revolves around the Earth, and every year these people more and more. It is worth noting that in the United States with such a delusion is home to around 40% of the population.
According to 55% of Russian respondents, radioactivity is a product solely of human activity. Almost a third of the Russian population believes that the first humans lived next to dinosaurs (obviously, it reflects the influence of the American film industry). Every sixth Russian believes that modern man did not evolve from more primitive species and has not passed a long stage of evolution.
Experts the reason for these disappointing results call low quality of education.
