STIMULATION OF BIOLOGICAL TISSUES USING MAGNETOACOUSTIC EFFECTS

Technology

The invention relates to a method magnetoacoustic effects on areas of biological tissue, e.g. neural structures, or tissues of other organs of animals and humans, as well as the device, its implements, without the use of implanted electrodes. This allows for non-invasive exposure.

This current and provides the desired effect of either stimulating or blocking the transmission of nerve impulses.

The world's leading manufacturer of implantable stimulators is Меdtrопiс (USA).

The main disadvantages of applying the method of implantable stimulators are the following: - the need for surgical intervention, trauma, respectively, and as a consequence the risk of complications;

- presence of anatomical and functional variability in the structures of the human brain sometimes requires several diagnostic submersions of the electrodes, which increases the invasiveness of the operation; often arising necessity of replacement of the electrodes as a result of inflammatory reactions of biological tissue or shroud electrodes connective tissue that reduces the effect of stimulation.

Today, with the absence of effect of drug therapy only used surgical method is the single - implanted stimulators and electrodes. The essence of the method set out in the following publications. (2, 3)

Summary of the invention

The main idea of the proposed method is that instead of attaching a biological conduit to a source of external current through implanted electrodes, to generate this current in a selected area of a biological conduit (e.g. a neuron or AXONE).

As you know, on the basis of the law of electromagnetic induction in a moving magnetic field in the conductor an electromotive force (EMF) of induction.

The essence of the proposed method is to place the biological tissue (e.g. brain tissue) in the external magnetic field and the excitation of local vibrational motion of sections of conductors

(neurons, axons) using focused ultrasound waves. Mechanical oscillations of bodies of nerve cells (neurons) and their processes - axons

- (or other biological conductors) are called ultrasound. Magnetoacoustic effects indirectly resulting in biological conductors of electrical current, which has a direct impact. Therefore, this method relates to

electrostimulation.

The advantages of this method of electrical stimulation are: non-invasiveness, the possibility of focusing the electric field and the creation of the physiologically appropriate current density in any desired volume of tissue at any location, easy adjustments of parameters of stimulation, a painless procedure stimulation (unlike transcranial electrical stimulation, which in addition is extremely unfocused).

It is also important that magneto-acoustic stimulation can be an effective tool in determining the indications and sites for implantation of electrodes in each individual case.

The proposed method can also stimulate the tissue of the spinal cord and peripheral nerves. Furthermore, the method can be applied to solve problems in the field of cardiology, which may also be addressed in the proposed electrical stimulation. Brief description of the drawings

The invention is described below on the example of remote electrostimulation of deep brain structures by the proposed method. However, it is obvious that instead of the nervous tissue of the brain can be affected also in other tissues of the human or animal body.

The law of electromagnetic induction is described by the formula:

E=V*B*1 (1)

Here E is the EMF induced in a conductor of length 1, moving with velocity V in a magnetic field of magnitude V. In the considered particular case the conductor is a neuron or axon. Formula (1) can be used to describe the mechanism of electric current in the biological conductor.

In accordance with (1) induced EMF induced in the conductor depends on the magnitude of the magnetic field and the mechanical speed of the moving conductor.

If the magnetic field and/or the speed of movement of the conductor are

variables, and the induced EMF will also be variable.

For the effects of acoustic waves on a separate area of the conductor of some length is necessary to focus these waves in the selected area. At the same time to provide focusing of acoustic waves, a relatively high ultrasound frequency, so as the blur the focus depends on the length of the ultrasonic waves. The size of the spots is approximately equal to several wavelengths. To ensure the locality (point) effects the desired short wavelength, i.e. high frequency. For example, to ensure that the focusing spot size (diameter) 1.5 mm the ultrasound frequency should be about f = 1 MHz.

In a constant magnetic field, the frequency of the induced current will also be equal to 1 MHz. However, the current of such frequencies are not having exciting electrical effects on neurons and axons. To create a current of small frequency F, which may in a particular case, to accept a null value (in this case current will be practically constant current), the magnetic field should vary with frequency f + F or f - F.

Monochromatic waves and oscillations are described, as is known, the harmonic functions sine and cosine. If we assume that in equation (1) V = V0 * cos (2πft), B = B0 * cos (2πft + 2πFt), with accuracy to the coefficient K of proportionality of the corresponding dimension, in accordance with (1) and the trigonometric identity cos α * cos β = 1/2 * cos (α + β) * cos (α - β) we get: E - V * In * 1 =

= K * cos (2πft) cos (2πft + 2πFt) = A * cos (2πFt) + K * cos (4πft + 2πFt) (2)

(2π is the constant of proportionality between cyclic and circular frequency.)

Thus, in the spectrum induced in a biological conductor appears low difference frequency F (first term right side of (2)). Here t is the time.

In the above equations V is the mechanical oscillation speed

biological conductor that is not moving with ultrasonic wave, and stays in place, making only fluctuations. The changing magnetic field of a specified frequency also has an oscillatory (quasi-static) in nature.

This takes into account the following. Acoustic waves with low frequencies cannot be focused in the size of the patient's head. Therefore, the high frequency of f should be present both in the acoustic and magnetic field, but one of them must be different from the other on a small differential frequency F in order to obtain low-frequency spectral component in accordance with the formula (2). When focusing acoustic waves (ultrasonic frequency) in the selected area of the tissue in this area creates a mechanical oscillatory motion in response to the exposure to acoustic waves, thus forming in a selected portion of tissue, the current of low frequency in accordance with (2). This occurs in the section of the cloth, a current of low frequency and has a stimulating effect on tissue.

Thus fluctuations in the acoustic waves are synchronized with the fluctuations of the external magnetic field. Description of the installation Structural installation diagram is illustrated in Fig.l and 2. American psychiatrists from the medical center of the University of Chicago conducted a large-scale study of the effect of magnetic fields on patients suffering from depression. The results of the study are encouraging, especially those patients, who are immune to antidepressants or psychotherapy (and their 20-40% of the total number of patients).

The method, called transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) does not require inserting electrodes under the skin or through the skull. There is no need to use any additional medications. The whole thing is connected to the output ucilka subwoofer ( 5.1 system) , one coil bed mattress is sewn,the second just on the head,and made according to the shape of the head( photo will upload soon.
So,I would like to ask Andrei Patrushev - can you help create a preset for the coil with the magnetic field of dopustim to facilitate out-of-body??
Assume one frequency lulls the body and relaxes ( as in BWG quick sleep) ,the second frequency supports the waking state of mind,the third gives a feeling of weightlessness - just a little bit to try and take off)) seriously!!
Same with Wasps - for example, preset with a magnetic field - just 2 hours sleep any frequency to bring awareness and flying away .
